Jackie, The new residence hall is for the freshman and yes there will be a new dining hall for everyone.  Also, by January 2013 a new fitness center, new health center and new pool.  Our son is excited about being a freshman in the fall.

I just read that there is going to be a new hall and dining commons on the post here.  Where can I read more about that?  I wonder if the dining is for everyone on Poly?  Glad to hear that they have up graded because they really did need to do something.

Hello Everyone! It sounds like there is a little confusion about housing at Poly. Freshman will be living in the new hall on the Poly campus. Room assignments will be out mid July. As far as the meal plan options, there will be an email sent out when changes can be made. Changes will be allowed until June 1st. I hope this helps.

Hi Diane, My son and I just attended orientation this past Friday also.  Nothing was said different about the dorm.  They couldn't show an actual room yet, however did show us a video of the new dorm and what to expect.  I believe you got some misinformation on the telephone.  The person from housing did the presentation during the orientation.  They told us the students will be getting a new email to re-do dining and housing information once it is ready and the pricing has been finalized, which could be early June.

Hi Diane~

My son just got back from orientation and was told that they WILL be in the new dorms. I'm not sure if he signed up for any housing while he was there.  And he's not home for me to ask him right now.  If I find out anything I will repost.

Anybody heard this:

I called last week to ask questions about housing, I was told something different than I was told previously, that now the new dorm "Innovation   blah blah" is no longer the "freshman dorm" and that it is for "retention students" or something like that.  I may not have it correct the "retention" word. Maybe it is "sustainability students?".  Not sure what either means.  

BUT, has anyone else heard that about the incoming freshman not living in the new dorm anymore?  

I asked them when did that change and they said last week and that there are a lot of changes that happen on a daily basis.  

Any one just recently out at Poly for Freshman orientation? What did you sign up for for housing?  

I'm wondering did I just get a clueless student employee on the line? She really couldnt answer my questions very well, and kept saying hold on, and then asking a person standing nearby her, and then 3rd personing everything to me.

Hi Ellen, My son will be a freshman too at Poly this year.  When we went to orientation, it sounded like meals would be everyday now and the new dining commons which is attached to the new freshman dorm will be an "upgrade" from previously.  They will have an all you can eat type thing there.   It sounded like prices would also be increasing due to this.

My son will be a freshman at poly this fall.  He is starting with the Exploratory in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, etc.  We are from Wisconsin and he is looking forward to going to ASU.  He is interested in the marching band, any other students part of the marching band at poly?  We will be attending orientation on April 13th.  Any tips for incoming freshmen would be appreciated.  Thank you.  Heidi
