marrianne, even north scottsdale is close. we have stayed in that area and it is only about 20 minutes to campus.

Anyone have any good ideas how my son can find a roommate? We live in VA and the Devil 2 Devil is not helping. We tried another website but still no luck. These Groups have been very helpful so far so I thought I would ask. 

He is Undecided so he is housing at one of the two Hassyampa Dorms.

Marianne, don't just look at the Tempe area for Hotels. You will find many options in the Phoenix area at some pretty good rates. Downtown Phoenix is about a 15 min drive give or take and you will also find that the Phoenix/Tempe area is very easy to get around. Use the travel websites and keep looking. By checking Expedia over and over again I got a snap special on a full size rent a car from Enterprise for $20.00 a day plus taxes and fees. I was there for three days last week and the total came to less than $95.00 for car, taxes & fees. Keep checking the sites, you should be able to get some fantastic deals for a July stay.

Marianne - there are a number of good hotels right around the school.  We did find most of them sold out when we sent our daughter in April.  She stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Airport.  They have a shuttle from the airport and one to the school.  Prices were reasonable.

we live in Montclair NJ, my daughter Ana will be a freshman at the tempe campus. She is an anthropology major. She is excited about college. we are going to the july orientation session. Where is a good place to stay, on  a budget, near the campus.

We live in southern MA.  Our daughter will be living in Barrett and is studying Biology.   She is also pre-med.  She has finished her orientation and we are just waiting for the next step

I just got back from visiting my daughter in Phoenix, the weather was great and you can feel the buzz around the school as finals will start shortly. For those of you that have not been out there before please make sure you give yourself time to take it all in. There is much to do & see, it is absolutely beautiful out there pictures don't do it justice. Have fun.
