Comment by Nancy Funk on June 27, 2012 at 7:35am Thanks M. Clare. I just remember that for other college move ins, it was a help to have a parent there, but once all of the boxes are in the room and maybe lunch, the parents leave. Still thinking about this. Can anyone else share their thoughts?
Comment by M. Clare Fields on June 27, 2012 at 7:23am @Nancy - I would think that is a personal choice, I was trying to decide the same thing, wait and come for Family weekend but decided I wanted to be there for the move in.
@ Geraldine- Joe is in WP Carey and his housing is Sonora, he moves in August 19 @ 7:30 AM. The info should be on your child's ASU account/home page.
@ Debra - Joe just had his suite mate add him on FB, two days ago. He was beginning to think he didn't exist. Maybe she is on vacation? Did she send her an email through the ASU system?
My daughter will be attending the Phoenix campus. She will be coming from Ohio. She had been talking to the girl that she chose to have as her room mate for the last month or two to just find out that she does not have her. Now she can't contact her assigned room mate.

Comment by Nancy Funk on June 23, 2012 at 6:38am For move in day, do you think that a parent needs to be there?
Comment by M. Clare Fields on June 12, 2012 at 8:15am From South Bend, our son Joe, is heading to ASU as a freshman. He is in the WP Carey Business School. We have lucked out and my in-laws live in AZ so we are sending things out when Joe and my husband go for orientation at the end of the month.
Comment by Nancy Funk on June 12, 2012 at 5:24am Anyone going to orientation on Thursday?
Comment by Nancy Funk on June 8, 2012 at 5:23am Our daughter will not have a car and we are not familiar with public transportation yet, so we are shipping everything to her at ASU. If we did have her pick up items at the store, she would have to ask a friend to drive her there and/or go with her via public transportation to help her carry items from Target/WalMart, etc., ( I went on mapquest.com to see distances between campus and stores). So I am just shipping things to her. One less thing for me to worry about! But if she had a car, no problem.
Comment by Donae Ranson on June 7, 2012 at 5:59am We have some concerns about how to get all of Austin's necessities to ASU. Since many of us are from out of state have any of you thought about taking advantage of the "pick up" option at Bed/Bath/Beyond/Target or Walmart in Tempe? Have you heard any details about this process? I have also heard that UPS will hold packages for you.
Comment by Nancy Funk on June 6, 2012 at 8:15pm Donae, I have no idea, sorry. I am totally depending on the university to help select room mates. (hopefully I am doing the right thing)! I do know she filled out a survey of what she wanted in a room mate. I remember I did that when I was in college, and the best room mates I ever had were the ones assigned to me by the university. I am still friends with them, so I am not worried. Anyway, I am depending on ASU on this one.
