Elaine, not sure if you ever got any info as your post is a few months ago....my son lived at Cholla last year and it was ok....they are VERY old dorms I was a little taken back when we moved him in. They have 2 boys in each room (a bit cramped) But it was a good experience for him made him appreciate coming home even more! lol This year he is moving to the District which he will have his own room and bathroom which he is quite excited about! Cholla was convenient as he doesnt have a car and its just across the street from campus! Good Luck!
Thanks for the response. It was very helpfull. My son will know some friends living in dorms so that would be a great way for him to bring his lunch. Do the dorm rooms have fridges and microwaves or does it depend on if the student living there supplies one?
My son was a freshman last year and lived at our home in Goodyear. He didn't purchase any meal plan, but instead brought his lunch and microwaved it at MU or his friend's dorm. Sometimes he ate at a local restaurant with friends, and occasionally was treated to a meal when a friend had extra meals on their plan (or extra M&G dollars). He plans on doing the same this (sophomore) year.
Our son, who is the youngest of 6 and the only one to go to college right after high school, also received an exception to live off campus. My problem now is that it looks like he may still have to get a meal plan. The information on the website is still kind of confusing. We are leaning towared an M&G dollars account where we will just make a deposit when necessary. Does anyone here have any experience, suggestions, or opinions about this? Thank you.
ANYONE KNOW ABOUT BLOCK 1949 APARTMENTS IN TEMPE?
Has anyone heard anything about Cholla Apts. or Adelphi II? My son was told those are his only on-campus options for next year (other than University Towers, which is too far from WP Carey.) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
The Truth about Vista Del Sol – An American Campus Community
Arizona State University parents and students beware, moving into and Vista Del Sol and the newly built Villas at Vista del Sol may be the biggest mistake YOU MAY EVER MAKE!
Vista del Sol is a subsidiary of the company American Campus Communities. The company’s mission statement is as follows, “Our mission is to be the premier provider of quality student housing communities and services though a unique understanding and unrelenting commitment to students, parents, educational institutions and investors. Our people are our strength, achieving success through a dedication to excellence and integrity”. While this statement sounds appealing, it does not at all reflect the model or business practices of the company, specifically Vista del Sol.
As a prospective renter, Vista Del Sol, seems to be the premier choice in living for students. It offers a cabana style pool, volley ball and basketball courts, 24hour gym and the on-site parking. The location of Vista del Sol is ideal for the college student who wants to “roll out of bed and walk to class”. As a prospective renter, a friendly leasing agent will go over all of the attractive features with you, but the leasing agent will fail to address any of the most important problems that WILL affect you as a renter of this property.

In summary each of these problems goes against American Campus Communities “commitment to excellence and integrity.” And these injustices MUST be exposed.
What can you do if you or your student is currently living at Vista Del Sol:
My daughter's name is Auriel Ramsey and she wrote this piece I am sharing with you all. She is senior student at Arizona State University studying Finance.
