My daughter has decided on ASU and will be a Freshman in the fall.  She's majoring in film so will be on the Tempe campus in the Arcadia Residential dorms.  My first kid to go out-of-state for college so this will be quite an adjustment for me...but she is really excited!  Luckily she's always been a very responsible kid and good student so I don't think I have much to worry about.  We're in the Arvada/Westminster area and would like to see if we can connect...maybe some future carpooling, etc.

Magali, we did end up getting a really low fare from Frontier for the winter break.  The Phoenix airport is really close to the school, so this may be the easiest way to get them home.  And, for Colorado parents, it might be nice to spend some winter time in Phoenix visiting our kids--so we'll be doing some of that too.

Carla, We are dropping are daughter off on Aug. 12th.(ROTC) She won't have her car, so we are just hoping for low fare tickets for fall break and Christmas!

We live in Highlands Ranch, my son Andrew is a Mountain Vista graduate who will be on the Tempe campus majoring in Urban Planning.  Due to other commitments, we were unable to attend an earlier parents orientation.  My husband and I will be attending orientation on August 16.  I would appreciate any advice.  I feel like we are coming to the party late because we haven't been to the orientation yet.

We live in Durango.  Our daughter is a freshman who will be living at the Tempe Campus.  We will attend orientation on August 17.  We wonder about pet friendly hotels nearby.  Can anyone advise?

Hi everyone--We are from Durango.  My son will be attending the downtown campus, School of Public Policy, and will be living in the dorms at Taylor Place.  Carpooling for holidays and breaks would be great---because he won't have a car!  But, he's a great driver and can provide gas $$ and great tunes and conversation.  So, if any of your kids are headed this way, please let me know.  Thx. Hope to meet you all some day.

Hi

We won't make the send off as we will be in Spain.

As for Orientation, take the time to connect with other

parents and take note of how organized the W P Carey school

is.  We heard Assistant Dean Ferris (sp?) and she was

dynamic. I wish Caitlin had had a chance to meet faculty.

Is your child signed up for Camp Carey?

Caitlin will go on the 24th after move in. Some speakers recommended the weekend before move in.  Move in dates

will be either the 18th or 19th.  All of the people seemed

very nice and accommodating.  Enjoy

Hi Elizabeth - We go to Orientation next week - the upcoming 90 degree weather in Denver should help us get ready for AZ temps.  If you go to the Sun Devil Send off on 6/23, we can introduce our kids to each other. Any tips for us before we go to Orientation?

Hi Lynn,

Our daughter Caitlin will be in the WP Carey school of business.

We just returned from Orientation where it was 115 degrees on Friday. Ouch. It was cold in Denver when we returned. We live in Denver.
